On this week’s episode Alyssa & Haley are chatting with Olympic gold medalist Flora Duffy. In the world of triathlon Flora is one that needs little introduction, but her long list of accolades include being a 4-time Olympian, gold medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, WCTS World Champion, Commonwealth Games gold medalist, and 6-time Xterra World Champion.
Flora speaks candidly about her experience at the Games, and talks through the weeks, months, and years of preparation that lead her to a gold medal. Hailing from the small island nation of Bermuda, Flora talks about what it was like to feel the weight of her country’s hope for their first ever Olympic gold medal, and how she was able to reframe the feelings of pressure and expectation to those of support and pride. Flora also gives us an insider’s breakdown of the race in Tokyo, from pre race jitters to bike course tactics.
Flora competed in her first Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008. After over a decade string for the highest level in the sport, she tells us how she has managed to compete at such a high level for so long, and what she is looking forward to in the next chapter of her career.
