This week on the show Kristi and Kathryn catch up with professional cyclist Emily Newsom in Waterbury VT as she preps for the Rooted Vermont gravel race. Although she is fairly new to gravel, Emily has had a long career as a cyclist on the road. She tells us about her path into the sport after graduating with a masters degree in Piano Performance, and talks about the similarities between being a professional cyclist and professional musician. Emily also chats about the transition from road racing as a domestique in the peloton to racing solo in big gravel races.
Emily signed with a professional team in 2018, 4 years after having her daughter. She talks about balancing training and motherhood, and emphasizes the importance of having a good support system around her.
