Outspoken: Women in Triathlon Summit Announces In-Person Event, Partnership with Cervélo

Major manufacturer of road, track, and triathlon bicycles supports the Outspoken Summit as event returns to Tempe, AZ

Denver, Colorado, USA — August 3, 2021

The producers of the Outspoken: Women in Triathlon Summit are excited to announce the launch of the in-person component of this year’s Summit, November 12th – November 14th in Tempe, AZ.  In addition, Cervélo returns after a successful partnership in 2019 for the 2021 Summit as presenting sponsor.

The Outspoken Summit will provide attendees access to learning and connection in both a virtual and in-person format. Attendees will be able to access keynote speakers and workshops in either modality, with in-person sessions being live streamed and the virtual sessions available to in-person attendees.

In-person sessions include how to integrate diversity, equity and inclusion policies and programs into all levels of triathlon, the state of women in triathlon coaching, and Latina girls and women in sport.  All sessions will provide a rich learning experience for attendees regardless of triathlon or current leadership experience. The theme, Back in the Blocks, encourages attendees to think critically about how we can shape triathlon moving forward post-pandemic. What is “normal”, and should we even go back there as we look to the future?

Presenting sponsor Cervélo “continues to be committed to Outspoken and the organization’s efforts to create space for, and dialogue around diversity and inclusion in cycling and triathlon. To continue the momentum of centering equity and challenging the barriers in our sport and beyond” is critically important for our sport’s future, says Cervélo Sports Marketing Specialist, Lindsey Vassalle.

“Cervélo was my first bike sponsor back in 2008,” says Dr. Sara Gross, Summit co-founder and Ironman Champion, “I’m thrilled to have such an industry giant on board. It’s reassuring to have so many companies get behind the Summit and our vision to make lasting change for women in triathlon.”

Outspoken co-founder and researcher in gender equity, Dr. Lisa Ingarfield is excited to have Cervélo back for 2021 and as the presenting sponsor: “Receiving such invaluable support from such a giant in triathlon and cycling is phenomenal. Cervélo shares our commitment to women’s equity in the sport and more broadly, in initiating meaningful change in service of diversity and inclusion in triathlon and cycling.” She continues “by hosting a hybrid Summit, one with both a virtual and in-person component we are expanding the reach of the Summit and its message to triathletes, industry leaders, coaches and more. It is powerful to be doing this in partnership with Cervélo, a brand that has had such an impact on our sport.”
