On this bonus episode, Kathryn is chatting about all things Iceland with Lael Wilcox, Brooke Goudy, Lynnee Jacks and Maria Ögn Guðmundsdóttir. This summer they will all be taking part in the Westfjords Way Challenge, a 5-day stage race in the Westfjords of Iceland that will cover 595 miles over some of the country’s most remote and beautiful landscape. Lynnee is the co-director of the Westfjords Way Challenge, she wants everyone to know that it is more than just a race; the event is about meaningful interaction with the people and places you will encounter along the way. Lynnee and her organizing team have also made a commitment to equity on the start line, and they are holding 50% or all registrations for women.
Maria is a local rider and gives her insider scoop on the event, and what else you can do while you are there. She discusses with Brooke and Lael how to prepare for the race, from training to mindset. The three encourage all women to give it a try, even if you feel like it might be out of your comfort zone – you’ll likely discover a community of like-minded women along the way!
