In this Episode
We often hear triathlon referred to as a lifelong sport, and this week’s guest, Mariana Andrade, is a great example of that. From beginning her journey in the sport as a teenager in Brazil, to then racing professionally in the 2000s, Mariana was a prominent name on the long-course scene. She then decided to step away from the sport in order to focus on her health and grow her coaching business, during which time she dabbled in racing as a pure cyclist. This year she decided to return to ironman racing, and did so with a bang- finishing second in Ironman Florianopolis!
In the interview she told us about her reasons for needing to step away from the sport, as well as her strong love for the competition and community that made her want to return. Mariana is proof that there is no “perfect” path to the top in elite sport, and that progress is not always linear. We can’t wait to see what she accomplished on future races, especially when she toes the line in Kona this fall!
