100-milers and IRONMANs are VERY different. In terms of training, mindset, and distance – these races are nowhere alike. So what would it look like to be an athlete for both? Well, Lucy Bartholomew is. Looking at the 2023 season, it seems like Lucy may race both Kona in October, and UTMB in September. Lucy is an Australian Ultra Trailrunner – Haley and Alyssa welcome her onto the podcast to talk about her recent foray into triathlon and how she manages both this and ultra trail running.
Lucy shares the roadblocks she’s faced along her athletic journey, including cancer surgery and coming back from a concussion she sustained while racing the Western States 100. Beginning triathlon with very little prior knowledge, Lucy discusses how she learned along the way, and the support she got from fellow triathletes. Finally, Alyssa and Lucy compare notes on which race is harder.
