On this week’s episode of Girls Gone Gravel Kathryn and Kristi catch up with cyclist and route-planning expert Linda English. In 2014 Linda and her husband founded Dirty Freehub, an online resource for cyclists looking for vetted gravel routes. Since then, the site has grown into a non-profit organization that offers resources to gravel cyclists looking to plan rides and routes across the western US, encompassing over 8000 miles of riding.
Linda fills us in on how the site got started, how they choose and name the routes, and why it is important to them to develop stewardship for cyclists in the areas in which we ride. Dirty Freehub works with towns and tourism organizations to promote unique areas and must-see places along their routes. They also provide resources for cyclists on recommended safety equipment and navigational tools, and Linda gives us a few of her best tips for cyclists starting out in route planning and navigation.
