The Problem with Persuasion (Episode 111)

In this Episode

If you have ever been part of the DEI space as a practitioner, there is A LOT of persuading that happens. Trying to persuadeclubs, organizations, companies and institutions to believe that DEI work is necessary takes time. Making thecase is tiring and often, time is better spent doing – rather than convincing someone thatdoingis the right choice.

Centering their conversation around this notion that persuasion may be a waste of time, Shaunna and Lisa equate DEI to integralorganizationfundamentals. Like innovation, integrity, and resilience, DEI needs to be understood as a fundamental aspect of any organization. From there, DEI practitioners can spend their time creating change – rather than persuadingpeoplethatsuch changes areappropriate and necessary.
