Announcing the 2020 Outspoken Women in Triathlon Awards presented by Coeur Sports

Nominations are now open in a number of categories including Coach of the Year, Race Director of the Year, and a new award honoring a woman triathlete who has gone above and beyond during the
pandemic.

Denver, Colorado, USA – July 2, 2020 – The producers of the Outspoken: Women in Triathlon Summit are pleased to announce the second annual Women in Triathlon Awards presented by Coeur Sports to be held virtually on November 15th, 2020.

Though Covid-19 has shifted our triathlon landscape, women continue to excel doing amazing work for gender equity in triathlon. The 2020 awards are a celebration of the many women who have contributed to growing women’s inclusion and equity in the sport, even in the face of unprecedented challenges.

This year, the Outspoken Summit has added three new categories to its awards: the Social Media Impact Award, the Lifetime Achievement Award, and a special award for a woman who has gone above and beyond for her community during the pandemic, the Pandemic Community Service Award.

Dr. Lisa Ingarfield, triathlon coach and Summit co-founder says: “Even though the Outspoken Summit cannot happen as planned this year, we are continuing our commitment to elevating women’s voices in the sport. This is especially needed in 2020 when the research is showing women overall are carrying a heavier burden during these stressful and challenging times. Recognizing them through these awards is crucial.”

Kebby Holden, founder & designer at Coeur Sports says: “These awards are so important because not only do they reward those women in our sport doing incredible things, but they also identify and promote these women so they can be role models to others. Doing good is exponential and contagious.”

Nominations can now be made in the following categories:

  • Athlete of the Year
  • Coach of the Year
  • Race Director(s) of the Year
  • Outstanding Media Contribution
  • Social Media Impact Award
